Surrounded by one of Frankfurt's most beautiful gardens, the Liebieghaus is home to a top-class collection of around 3,000 sculptures dating from Ancient Egypt to Classicism. The museum, which specializes in sculpture, is one of the most important sculpture museums in the world.

The Liebieghaus, centrally located on the Museumsufer in Frankfurt am Main, is one of the world's most important sculpture museums with over 3,000 works on around 1,600 square meters of exhibition space. The collection brings together outstanding sculptures from Ancient Egypt to Classicism: with works from Egyptian, Greek and Roman antiquity, the Middle Ages and Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque and Rococo, Classicism and East Asia, it offers a comprehensive overview of 5,000 years of sculpture history.
The numerous masterpieces in the collection include the marble sculpture of Athena (ca. 450 BC) modeled on Myron, the sandstone figure of the Virgin Mary (ca. 1520) by Tilman Riemenschneider and the terracotta altar created by Andrea della Robbia around 1500. In recent years, the Liebieghaus has attracted a great deal of attention with extensive exhibition and research projects such as "Colorful Gods. The Colorfulness of Ancient Sculpture" (2008/2009), "Jean-Antoine Houdon: The Sensual Sculpture" (2009/2010) or "Niclaus Gerhaert. The Sculptor of the Middle Ages" (2012) attracted great public interest and impressed experts with his publications and academic projects.

Just in time for the 100th anniversary of the sculpture collection, the permanent exhibition of the Liebieghaus was completely redesigned in 2009. As part of this comprehensive infrastructure measure, a new, overarching color scheme and an innovative lighting concept were introduced. Since then, the magnificent top floor of the villa has also been open to the public. The rooms, furnished as atmospheric studioli with elaborate wall paneling, invite visitors to discover the wealth of the German Gründerzeit. The display depot, which has also been newly set up, enables unusual comparisons to be made thanks to its collection of objects: Works in a wide variety of formats and materials from all areas of the collection are exhibited here, which have only rarely or not for a long time been on display.
The exhibitions and collection presentations of the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung are accompanied by a wide range of events and educational activities for children and young people as well as adults, families and senior citizens. With its numerous projects such as the KinderKunstKlub or the Summer Academy, the Liebieghaus reaches a wide variety of visitor groups and provides comprehensive and exciting in-depth content on the exhibitions and collection areas with target group-specific offers such as "Art after work", "Kunstkolleg" or "Art and religion". Children and young people can learn the basic techniques of sculpture in vacation courses, studio workshops and courses. The regular lectures offered by art experts on selected aspects of the special exhibitions and on masterpieces from the collection provide in-depth background information and a wide range of insights.
