In winter 2023/24, a show at Schloss Wilhelmshöhe will once again bring current social discourses into the museum's own collection and thus dedicate itself to queerness in its own holdings.

What alternative lifestyles, understandings of the body and sexualities can be seen in the works of the Old Masters, which today we would sum up in the term queer? And where are modern viewers perhaps also guided by their own socialization? The idea is to broaden the view of the collection through an open exhibition concept and the active involvement of visitors. On the one hand, the aim is to raise awareness of the subject matter and to address the ambiguity of historical imagery. The cross-collection concept makes it possible to thematically unite the objects from the various collections in Hessen Kassel Heritage and present them from a new perspective.
