Dayanita Singh (1961, New Delhi) has been developing a genre-spanning body of work for four decades in which she explores the boundaries of the medium of photography. Dancing with my Camera is the most comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the Indian artist to date. It reviews her entire oeuvre, from her first photographic project on the sound world of Indian percussionist Zakir Hussain (1951, Bombay) to more recent works such as Let's See (2021), which is based on the form of the photo contact sheet. The exhibition bears witness to the formal inventiveness that characterizes Singh's work and reflects her singular perspective on themes such as archives, music, dance, architecture, death, gender and friendship.
