In 2005, the British culture station Radio 4 asked its listeners to draw up a list of their worst sins. To the surprise of many, laziness in all its facets came up particularly often. Selfishness, hypocrisy, intolerance, cruelty and cynicism appeared as "new" sins. The Kunsthalle Krems has invited a total of 13 international and Austrian artists and 7 authors to explore the theme of the seven deadly sins. They look at the deadly sins in their boldness and deal with human and existential issues in an interdenominational way.

The Swedish artist Nathalie Djurberg is developing a video installation together with the musician Hans Berg, which will be shown in Krems for the first time. Nedko Solakov from Bulgaria deals with the theme of the seven sins in his direct and humorous drawings, as does Dan Perjovschi from Romania, whose drawings lead to spatial installations. Mexican artist Teresa Margolles, who already exhibited at Kunsthalle Krems in 2019, confronts visitors with human tragedies. Russian-born Julia Belova will be showing sculptures made of porcelain and wax with an impressive baroque aesthetic. Other participating artists include Christa Biedermann, Ádám Dallos, Rob Frogoso, Èv van Hettmer, Jonathan Meese, Herta Müller and Ulrike Ottinger.
