In 2024, the MusicalSummer at Kufstein Fortress will enter its 16th round. The fixed date in the Tyrolean cultural calendar attracts thousands of visitors every year. The largely weatherproof roofing of Josefsburg Castle to the south allows for a first-class open-air experience.

"Sister Act" - a heavenly musical based on the film of the same name Sister Act with Whoopi Goldberg. The music for the musical was composed by Alan Menken. Here is the content in a nutshell: An unsuccessful bar singer is the only witness in a murder trial against a powerful underworld boss. Disguised as Sister Mary Clarence, the police hide her in a convent. There, as leader of the nuns' choir, she causes all kinds of turbulence. However, the choir's new program attracts many people to the church again. Finally, the Pope hears about the now famous group and announces his visit for a concert. Some henchmen disguised as nuns sneak into the convent to kidnap Mary. However, her fellow nuns are able to prevent this. In the final scene, the sisters give the expected concert for the Pope. Sister Mary Clarence - in a habit but without a veil - helps the choir to give a very successful performance one last time.

Once again this year, a top-class ensemble with illustrious names and many familiar faces is performing in Kufstein: first and foremost Michael Lerchenberg. The Bavarian actor, director and author is directing this musical. New to Kufstein, but already very familiar with her role, is Siyou Isabelle Ngnoubamdjum. The daughter of a Protestant Cameroonian pastor and a German aid worker, she is an international gospel and jazz star and is considered brilliant in the role of Deloris. Susanna von der Burg and Eleonore Bürcher have had a firm place in the hearts of Tyroleans for many years. The soprano and the actress, both members of the Tiroler Landestheater ensemble for decades, take on the central roles of the sisters Mary Patrick (von der Burg) and Mary Theresa (Bürcher) in the Kufstein nunnery.
April Hailer has a wealth of stage and television experience, especially in comedy. The German actress, singer and theater director will be seen in Kufstein in the role of Sister Mary Lazarus. The chaotic hustle and bustle in the convent is held together by another very distinctive personality from the German-speaking theater and film landscape: Viola von der Burg plays the Mother Superior, who has the task of somehow integrating Deloris, alias Sister Mary Clarence, into the order or at least keeping her under control ...
Premiere: July 26, 2024
Further performances: July 27 and 28, August 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11, 2024
