Every year, the exquisite Millstatt Music Weeks attract important protagonists from the classical music scene to the idyllic Carinthian lake. This year's program is entitled "Prayer Music" and presents powerful orchestral sounds as well as intense chamber music and haunting choral literature from May to September. Outstanding performers such as the world-famous mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča can be heard.

There will be a total of 19 opportunities to experience music in all its diversity at the festival's venues. The spectrum ranges from young talents such as Radenthein-born David Edlinger on percussion, who will perform the opening concert 2024 together with the "Kärntner Sinfonieorchester", the "Junge Philharmonie Wien", which will perform with the "Ambidravi Vocal", including Anton Bruckner's "Te Deum", top-class chamber music with the "ensemble minui", which will fill the Millstatt Abbey Church with sound under the title "Opera without song", the versatile and dynamic ensemble "Vienna Strings", which will perform under the title "Strings & Pipes: A journey through the centuries", and the "Wiltener Sängerknaben", who will present themselves with secular and sacred choral literature. We are particularly delighted that the vocal ensemble "Latvian Voices" will be opening the season in a festive way to mark Mother's Day. Thomas Fleißner (solo trumpeter of the Mozarteum Orchestra) and Johannes Wilhelm (organ) will provide top-class organ and trumpet sounds, the "Kärntner Barockorchester" and the "Singakademie Carinthia" will interpret a masterly Italian program under the direction of Michael Paumgarten and the "Vocalforum Graz" will perform "Des Kaiser Nachtigall" by Ugis Praulins under the direction of Franz M. Herzog.

A special highlight is a song recital with one of the world's most sought-after chamber singers: mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča will perform a song recital entitled "Ein Feuerwerk der Musik" in the Millstatt Collegiate Church. Real folk music can also be found in the 2024 program: The "WüdaraMusi" will create an evening full of folk sounds under the title "Aufg'spielt in Millstatt" in the Kongresshaus Millstatt and invites you to dance. In order to draw the youngest children under the spell of music, we offer primary school children the opportunity to experience the great music education project "Turbo Thilda: Heroine in Slumberland". Many other formations can be found in the program, which are already waiting in the wings to enchant you with music.
