brut Wien has been inspiring audiences with innovative theater, dance and performance projects since 2007. The raw and urban charm of the industrial hall in which the theater is located underlines the experimental and interdisciplinary approaches. With a varied program that focuses on socially relevant topics, brut has established itself as an important venue for artistic reflection and discourse and offers an important platform for local and international artists.
In the 2024/25 season, you can expect works by Anne Juren and Matthias Kranebitter in cooperation with Wien Modern, Doris Uhlich, Rykena/Jüngst, Gin Müller and the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra, among others, as well as the brut barrierefrei series with performances and workshops on accessibility in the theater and, in March and April, the imagetanz festival with new choreography and performance.

Karin Pauer kicks off December with the world premiere of AVA - her poetic, flowing and airy exploration of the complicated realities of the Anthropocene, from December 11 to 14 at brut nordwest. The Vienna Improvisers Orchestra, under the direction of Michael Fischer, will give an early, virtuoso improvised New Year's concert with unfolding poetic vision(s) on common ground at the same venue on December 16.
The world premiere of the continuation of the JUSTITIA series - Data Ghosts - by Gin Müller and Laura Andreß invites you to the beginning of the year with artificially intelligent jurisprudence and court avatars in court, from January 15 to 22 at brut nordwest.
Sööt/Zeyringer are concerned with late justice with their Invisible Collection. In an interactive audio performance at the Eschenbachgasse exhibit from February 15 to 22, they uncover works by female artists that have been inadvertently or deliberately attributed to men throughout history.

We have already been able to marvel at Susanne Kirnbauer-Bundy in two pieces by Doris Uhlich. There will also be an extraordinary encounter between Vienna and Bangkok. With Henrike Iglesias, the Thai collective Miss Theatre and our cell phones, we will also go in search of queer AFTERLIVES in the Austrian premiere on March 1 and 2 in Nordwestbahnstraße.
After postponements due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the live version of Inge Gappmaier's protect. there is no wind in geometrical worlds, inspired by ELIZA - the first chatbot developed in 1966 - can finally be seen at studio brut from 23 to 26 January. The brut barrierefrei series, which began at imagetanz 2024, will also continue in December with workshops for blind and visually impaired people and on the development of artistic audio descriptions by and with Theresa Scheinecker / Ray, Katharina Senk / Senki, Carolin Jüngst, Lisa Rykena, Fia Neises and Liv Schellander.
As an example of best practice, the performance TRANSFIGURED by Rykena/Jüngst uses dance, speech, song and integrated audio description to show shapeshifters who tell stories of memories and prophecies on January 31 and February 1 at brut nordwest.
