His path to the top of the world was once meteoric, and his place among the best has been permanent ever since: Daniel Trifonov combines intimacy and expressiveness like few others. This time, the piano virtuoso traces the energetic clarity of Viennese classical music. Together with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra (which is finally making a guest appearance in Cologne again after five years!) and its chief conductor Andris Nelsons, Daniil Trifonov devotes himself to Mozart's late C major concerto, which sings of happiness in a festive interplay between light and shade. Anton Bruckner's Sixth can be experienced as an uplifting finale, which, compared to the composer's other symphonies, develops in an enchantingly tender manner. Thomas Adès' enchanting "Shanty" takes us into atmospheric worlds at the beginning.
