Destination Mozart - this is the motto that Artistic Director Rolando Villazón has devised for Mozart Week 2025. All roads lead to Mozart, via Monteverdi, Bach and Handel, whose works are congenially combined with Mozart's rich oeuvre and who were pioneers, inspiration or role models for him.
Destination Mozart - that is grand opera with Monteverdi's impressive masterpiece L'Orfeo, staged by Nikolaus Habjan, musically accompanied by Christina Pluhar and her original sound ensemble L'Arpeggiata.
Destination Mozart - that means opulent orchestral sound and fine chamber music, with concerts by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra with Ádám Fischer, Igor Levit, Sonya Yoncheva, Oksana Lyniv and Juan Diego Flórez, old master Jordi Savall with Le Concert des Nations, the Collegium Vocale Gent with Philippe Herreweghe, Mahler Chamber Orchestra with Mitsuko Uchida, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe with Robin Ticciati, star pianist Fazil Say and the lautten compagney BERLIN and many more.
Destination Mozart - Mozart's gardener for love as a puppet show, but the paths also lead to Mozart via street dance, pub quizzes and silent movie theaters!
