In 2023/24, the Cultural Foundation for the District of Merzig-Wadern will once again present a district heritage exhibition at the Museum Schloss Fellenberg in Merzig. The theme is the homeland (in) the district of Merzig-Wadern in art.

In December 2022 and January 2023, the seven-member jury reviewed and evaluated 27 applications. Due to the large number of high-quality applications, more artists than originally planned will be given the opportunity to present their work as part of the 2023/24 District Heritage Exhibition. In order to do justice to this expansion, the district homeland exhibition will be shown in two parts. However, the assignment of an artist to one of the two parts of the exhibition is not based on the jury's evaluation, but was made by the Board of Trustees in order to enable two equally attractive parts of the exhibition. Visitors can also look forward to an extensive accompanying programme.

The 1st part of the exhibition runs from October 19, 2023 to December 10, 2023 and presents works by the following artists:

  • Roman Dörholt
  • Gudrun Maas-Ehre
  • Barbara Minden
  • Michael Ott
  • Hans-Josef Schmitt
  • Mechthild Schneider

The 2nd part of the exhibition runs from 2 February 2024 to 24 March 2024 and presents works by the following artists:

  • Ursula Bauer
  • Sabine Brosius
  • Sabine Hartmann
  • Thomas Schneider
  • Wolfgang Waldow
