The operetta festival in Bad Hall has been one of the cultural highlights of the Upper Austrian summer for years and delights a wide audience with top-class performances. In 2025, the Bad Hall Municipal Theatre will continue this tradition by staging the world-famous operetta "Im weißen Rössl" by Ralph Benatzky.
"Im weißen Rössl" is one of the best-known and most popular operettas of the 20th century. Since its premiere in Berlin in 1930, it has delighted audiences with its humorous entanglements, lively dialog and unforgettable melodies. The plot is set in an idyllic hotel on Lake Wolfgangsee and tells the story of Leopold, the head waiter in love, who finds himself in an amusing love tangle with his boss Josepha Vogelhuber, the resolute landlady of the Weißes Rössl.
However, while Josepha is infatuated with a wealthy regular guest, Dr. Siedler, Leopold makes a charming effort to win her heart. In addition to the romantic turbulence, a dazzling cast of characters - including the resolute widow Giesecke and her daughter Ottilie - provide plenty of mistaken identities, pointed wordplay and rousing music.
