With over 325 years of tradition, Leipzig Opera is one of the flagships of Leipzig as a city of music. One reason for this is the first-class musical standard of the house with the Gewandhaus Orchestra, one of the world's best orchestras. But the Leipzig Ballet, under the direction of ballet director and chief choreographer Mario Schröder, also inspires at the highest level. The next major festival at Oper Leipzig under the new artistic director Tobias Wolff is planned for 2024. From June 21 to 29, 2024, it will be "Leipzig dances!" when internationally renowned artists and companies from the ballet and dance scene come to Leipzig to celebrate this art form. The Akram Khan Company, the Slovenian National Ballet Maribor and, of course, the Leipzig Ballet will be among those taking part.
