Wagner's giant musical-theatrical experiment involving gods, humans and supermen enters the next round: After the turbulent "Rheingold" opening with the hunt for the formula for unlimited power, "Die Walküre" focuses on the dilemma of the father of the gods/labor leader Wotan, who becomes entangled in the web of his own visions. Thoughts of new beginnings give way to resignation when his creations, above all the Valkyrie Brünnhilde, discover their own will and turn against their creator. A destructive and creative power that was cursed at the beginning of "Rheingold" plays a role here: love.
