Leni Hoffmann's site-specific interventions and temporary installations use sensual surfaces and colorful materials to explore the boundaries between painting and object, three-dimensional space and two-dimensional wall.

She realizes her radical works both in museums and in public spaces - or by directly intervening in the production process of a daily newspaper. Using colored plasticine or plaster, she explores the possibilities of painting in situ. Detached from the canvas, she carries the paint into the architectural space of the museum and turns it into a pictorial space. At the center of her works are the viewers, who are involved in the creation of each painting.
For the exhibition, Leni Hoffmann takes up the unique architecture of one of Germany's largest industrial monuments, a former munitions factory, and reactivates spaces that are generally overlooked by visitors. The SGK is showing her first major solo exhibition in Karlsruhe, where she has been Professor of Painting and Graphics at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe since 2002.
