Nacera Belaza is known as one of the most unconventional choreographers of contemporary dance in France. She has devoted herself in particular to all those forms of movement that reveal the void. For over thirty years, she has been inviting both her audience and the performers in her pieces to a fascinating dance of existence on the border between light and darkness. In her works, the French-Algerian artist choreographs inner paths, light and shadow sides, moving on the fringes of consciousness to a state that almost resembles a metaphysical experience. Her pieces are intense, thoroughly contemporary, spiritual and meditative at the same time. In L'ENVOL, she continues this research with a special focus on the moment of letting go. Through movement, the performers search for ways to abandon fears and resistance, accept the unpredictable and surrender completely to the leap into the void.
