The Funkhaus will become the House of the Republic and the Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien will become a republic of love in 2025: for five weeks from May 16 to June 22, they invite you to artistic productions, debates and parties, concerts by the specially founded Band der Republik, club nights and campfire romance in the historically and emotionally charged 1930s building.

"Republic of Love" is the festival motto for 2025. No less political and revolutionary than in the founding year of the Free Republic of Vienna, the focus is now on love and the emotional aspects of social structures. In 2025, the artistic program will once again be closely linked to discursive-performative formats, such as the "Revolutionary Love" series by Croatian philosopher and activist Srećko Horvat in the House of the Republic. The entire program of the Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien will be published at the end of February. As an Early Bird promotion, three central productions will go on sale on December 6.

The international RESISTANCE NOW! Tour
The international RESISTANCE NOW! Tour lands at the Funkhaus on November 5, 2024 at 8 pm: Dóra Büki from the Hungarian Proton Theatre, the dismissed director of the Slovak National Theatre Matej Drlička and the Croatian philosopher and activist Srećko Horvat discuss how we can stand up together for democracy, diversity and the freedom of art in a time when nationalist parties are on the rise, moderated by Milo Rau, artistic director of the Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien. An event in cooperation with the ORF RadioKulturhaus.
Back in September, Milo Rau discussed his visions of a global, solidarity-based response to the dangers posed by the new nationalism with representatives of cultural institutions, artists and activists at debates and speeches in Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, the USA and Serbia: "Nationalist parties instrumentalize fears and divide society. Their first victim is the freedom of art. Our answer is love!"
Registration is possible on the website www.festwochen.at, the debate will be held in English and admission is free.
