Patricia Kopatchinskaja is an exceptional violinist in many respects, who is not satisfied with repeating the familiar, but is constantly on the lookout for new, eye- and ear-opening musical paths.
Significantly, she presents a no less extraordinary work together with Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
Alban Berg's Violin Concerto, which he composed after the early death of the daughter of Walter Gropius and Alma Mahler-Werfel and therefore dedicated "To the memory of an angel". The work is embedded in a programmatic arc that traces the course of a day: from the impressionistically shimmering D'un matin de printemps ("Of a Spring Morning") by Lili Boulanger, who also died young, to Joseph Haydn's only dedicated program symphony entitled Le midi ("Noon") and the passing of the "end of life" in Richard Strauss' Death and Transfiguration.
