There has always been something idealistic and unifying about the commitment to freedom that has inspired and continues to inspire artists of all times. Art needs freedom and freedom needs art. And so the 37th Lake Constance Festival is all about "freedom", in music, theater, dance and literature. Join us from 17 May to 9 June to discover how various artists, ensembles and orchestras led by our two artists in residence, Ksenija Sidorova and Michael Wollny, measure, explore and creatively fill "freedom" with very different programs and projects.

The 37th Lake Constance Festival will open on May 17 in Friedrichshafen with the world premiere of the play "If not today, then when!" to mark the 500th anniversary of the Peasants' War. The play, written for the Lake Constance Festival, reflects the differences between the privileged and the "common man" as well as the historical events. It is a play about discovering yesterday in today and today in yesterday.
