Markus Posch will conduct the Bruckner Orchestra Linz on this concert evening!

"...On the whole, the wild composer has gained some breeding, but lost some nature. In the Adagio, the audience's interest and disconcertment were still in balance, and they went along, albeit hesitantly. However, during the Scherzo, which was captivating exclusively through its strangeness, the horse separated from the rider - as the sportsman would say. A small clique seemed to have taken it into their heads to force the legitimization of this movement too by revolutionary means; a wasted effort, ...", wrote the feared Viennese critic Eduard Hanslick in February 1883 about the premieres of the two inner movements by the Vienna Philharmonic. After Gustav Mahler heavily retouched the orchestration of the first complete performance in 1899 and conducted a shortened version, it was to take until 1935 before the original score was heard for the first time. Bruckner himself considered the Sixth to be his "boldest". Listen for yourself!
