MASI Lugano is dedicating a major exhibition to the Swiss artist Shahryar Nashat (Geneva, 1975) with an impressive immersive installation conceived for this special occasion.

For his exhibition project in the basement of the MASI, the artist is completely redesigning the museum space. His interventions there affect the floor, the supporting pillars, the light and the walls. The exhibition also features new works such as a video shown on a large LED wall and new sculptures.
In his exhibitions, Nashat likes to intervene in spaces to create compact multi-sensory environments and in his works he experiments with unconventional materials such as urethane rubber, resins or sealing gel. With these highly evocative materials, Nashat references biological and physical characteristics of the human body, with which he conveys sensations and abstract concepts such as intimacy, passion and fragility.
