The new permanent exhibition at museum gugging encompasses five decades of Gugging art: from Josef Bachler's (1914-1979) iconic drawings to current works by younger artists, such as the new colorful compositions by Jürgen Tauscher (*1974).
"gugging.! classic & contemporary" explores the entire spectrum of creative production: Rudolf Horacek (1915-1986) and Oswald Tschirtner (1920-2007) complement the classic master from Gugging, August Walla (1936-2001), who offers his "mud pond.!", among other works. The large cows by Franz Kamlander (1920-1999) are juxtaposed with the plasmodia by Franz Kernbeis (1935-2019), while Johann Hauser (1926-1996) presents his impressive portraits of women and Karoline Rosskopf (1911 - unknown) her androgynous images of people. An entire room is dedicated to Arnold Schmidt (*1959) - the first presentation of recent works on paper is complemented by a monumental, six-meter-long painting on canvas. The overdrawings by Leopold Strobl (*1960), an artist who is also one of the great international discoveries and whose works are already collected by the Museum of Modern Art, are also a premiere for museum gugging.
The permanent exhibition offers an exciting juxtaposition of classical and contemporary art from Gugging and once again demonstrates its clear reference position within Art Brut.
