To mark the reopening of the newly renovated art building in the heart of Stuttgart, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart is planning a brilliant presentation of its own sculpture collection with a production by the artist Florian Slotawa.
With "Florian Slotawa. Viewing Stuttgart. Sculptures from the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart", the Staatsgalerie is moving to the center of Stuttgart and will thus experience a new visibility. In his new staging of the highly successful presentation at Hamburg's Deichtorhallen in 2018, the Italian-based artist is showing sculptures from the Staatsgalerie's collection in new contexts and unusual arrangements.
He either brings the sculptures into exciting dialogues, or he rearranges them according to his own order or, as in the case of the Picasso ensemble "The Bathers", rebuilds them from DIY store materials because the original is not suitable for travel. He also brings a pinch of everyday life into the action by combining sculptures with ordinary objects. He takes the title 'Viewing Stuttgart' literally in a special way, for example by including washing machines and a car from Stuttgart manufacturers or beer glasses from Stuttgart breweries.
