This year's donaufestival in Krems is dedicated to the theme "Community of Strangers". During the two festival weekends in April (April 19 to 21 and 26 to 28), the Scottish cult band The Jesus And Mary Chain is expected to perform.

Becoming different together: The donaufestival 2024 asks for a community of aliens. It searches for planetary alliances of life forms that defy imperial violence and the new political irreconcilabilities. Accompanied by alien music, queer Filipino gods and the world's first "empathy drink".
Over two extended weekends in April, with up to 20 events per day (sound, performance, art, film, discourse), the festival opens up a space of social possibility that does not deny conflicts and political dissent.

The acts include the avant-garde hip-hop formation Clipping, the Tunisian electro producer Deena Abdelwahed and the British duo Autechre. Australian musician Ben Frost, who will be releasing his first studio album in six years, Scope Neglect, at the beginning of March, has new material in his luggage. An interesting mixture of metallic noise and minimalist structures can be expected. In the performance section, Dutch-Swedish choreographer Jefta van Dinther will be present with his work Unearth, while Eve Stainton's Impcat Driver deals with the maintenance of moments of tension. Further Austrian premieres will be presented by Joshua Serafin(Void) and Studio Julian Hetzel with Ntando Cele(SPAfrica).
