PERSPECTIVES is the only German-French cultural festival dedicated to both German and French-language stage art.
The cross-border dialog that PERSPECTIVES strives for has been made possible by the commitment of both Germany and France. The festival has received support from France since its inception. Until 1992, the festival was organized by the state capital of Saarbrücken, which was affiliated to the city's cultural department. After the city decided to give the festival its own legal form, PERSPECTIVES became a gGmbH with the state capital of Saarbrücken and the Saarländisches Staatstheater as shareholders. In 2002, a cooperation agreement was reached between the Saarland, the city of Saarbrücken and the French département of Moselle, which have been jointly funding the festival ever since.
Every year, PERSPECTIVES presents a varied program with high artistic standards: the focus is on innovative productions by internationally renowned directors as well as promising young talents from the fields of contemporary theater, dance and new circus. The guest performances are subtitled in the language of the neighboring country and many events are performed without any words at all. On the weekends, the festival club SEKTOR HEIMAT at Saarbrücken's Osthafen invites you to concerts by current French bands.
