On January 27, 2024, part 2 of a new exhibition series will open, bringing the large collection and archival materials on Joseph Beuys into a dialog with younger international artists. The artists invited to take part will conduct research on site and create new performances, paintings, drawings and/or installations in the course of their artistic research on Beuys.

In his show, the sculptor and installation artist Lennart Lahuis, born in Hengelo (NL) in 1986, will focus on Beuys' handling of the four elements water, fire, earth and air. Accordingly, these natural phenomena determine the thematic and spatial division of the presentation and the accompanying catalog. The exhibition includes installations, photographs and pictures/objects by the artist in tension with corresponding artworks and performance documentations by Joseph Beuys. After numerous international solo presentations and exhibition participations, this will be Lahuis' first solo exhibition in Germany. It is aimed at German and Dutch visitors alike.

The sculptor and installation artist Lennart Lahuis, born in Hengelo (NL) in 1986, focuses on Beuys' handling of the four elements water, fire, earth and air and at the same time emphasizes his own artistic interest in the meaning and function of these elements. His installations are mysterious and astonishing. With technical finesse, for example, words emerge from water vapor in the middle of the exhibition space and disappear again immediately. A sense of the subtle beauty and transience of human existence emerges. His artistic practice addresses universal questions and requires the viewer to think actively.
