In a fast-paced and colorful production by Bernd Mottl, the dramma giocoso full of comedy and explosiveness tells of interpersonal expectations, bonds and alliances. Mozart's sophisticated setting of Da Ponte's libretto celebrated its world premiere in Prague in 1787. Since then, the "opera of all operas" has been dazzling opera ensembles all over the world with its sharply drawn characters and famous melodies.

He is a man who lives in the moment and lives life to the full. Don Giovanni takes his liberties, even at the expense of others. After he even takes the blame for someone's death one night, there is a brilliant clash of individuals: the betrayed Donna Elvira, the distressed Donna Anna and her dutiful fiancé Don Ottavio join forces against their common enemy. The peasant Masetto does not want to lose his young bride Zerlina to the nefarious nobleman. And Don Giovanni's servant Leporello, who has to keep a record of his master's conquests, is also tired of having to step into the breach for the ruthless man. As different as these characters are in status, age and motivation, they all involuntarily swirl around the center of Don Giovanni until the rake's boldest encounter finally becomes his undoing: that with death.
