An extravagant station theater. In the bunker.
What makes an experience an adventure? In the miles of winding corridors of the Mödling air-raid shelter, around fifty adventurers set off in search of an answer through very different virtual, fantastic, erotic and life-threatening adventures across world literature and popular culture, ranging from live action role play to Jules Verne, from dime novels to video adventures.
Every 15 minutes, a small audience of around 20 people enters the bunker and literally "hikes" through the play, which reveals new images, new actors, new stories and new surprises around every bend in the tunnel, at every fork in the road.
Performed by the Theater zum Fürchten ensemble.
Premiere: August 11, 2024
Subsequent dates: August 15 to 31, 2024, Thu to Sat
Staggered admission between 6 and 8:45 pm
The bunker
The Mödling air raid shelter was built in 1941/43 by Italian forced laborers as an air raid shelter and served as a refuge for the people of Mödling, Wiener Neudorf and Südwiener during the bombing war. Up to 9000 (!) people spent time in the tunnels during air raids. Until 1999, the bunker system consisting of two main tunnels and side tunnels lay dormant until the completely devastated facility, which had been plundered during the occupation, was discovered as a theater under Bruno Max.
