Where the Volkstheater Rostock has now set up a stage for the 9th time and provided unforgettable evenings, the noise of industry was once omnipresent. The Neptunwerft shipyard, Mecklenburg's largest industrial company in 1910, had Hall 207 built in 1911 as a ship's locksmith's shop. Today, its patina-covered steel supports, old lifting equipment and historic brickwork create a unique atmosphere that fascinates visitors and artists alike at the Volkstheater summer.
Go West
The musical time travel continues and the exciting 1990s begin. In the Nowack family's inn in the tranquil village of Dröggelin, not far from the Baltic Sea, Uncle Werner is eagerly awaiting the upcoming village festival. Meanwhile, Renate and Hans Nowack are worried about their finances. When their son Torsten gets the chance to start working at a bank in a major West German city, he seizes the opportunity immediately. Between the banking business and the vibrant nightlife, Torsten enjoys his new life to the full. In the meantime, the Nowacks receive an offer that holds out the prospect of saving their inn. The bird dealer
The summer in Halle 207 is ushered in with unforgettable catchy tunes such as Schenkt man sich Rosen in Tirol, Ich bin die Christel von der Post or Wie mein Ahn'l zwanzig Jahr. Although the operetta premiered in Vienna, it is set in the Palatinate, where forest and game master Baron Weps has his hands full. He collects bribes from the farmers so that His Serene Highness the Elector will overlook the poaching on his lands during his upcoming visit. Above all, however, Weps has his own arrears and an even more heavily indebted nephew, Stanislaus. Surely the money could be put to good use? Too bad the elector cancels at short notice. And it gets even worse: his wife doesn't know about it and has gone to the village in disguise to confront her unfaithful husband! There are a lot of amorous entanglements to solve, until in the end Adam, the bird dealer, gets his Christel; Weps is lucky with a lady-in-waiting and the Electress is also reconciled.
In-house director Rainer Holzapfel will direct the comedy with its lively melodies.

10th Philharmonic Concert / From London
With Raphaela Gromes, probably the most successful German cellist of our time (Rondo magazine), a special highlight can be expected at the Philharmonic season finale. Back in 2023, this exceptional artist enchanted around 3,000 listeners with her virtuoso, expressive and technically perfect playing at the annual Klassiknacht event at Rostock Zoo. In June 2025, she will return with Edward Elgar's famous cello concerto in her luggage - the last major orchestral work by the British composer with the passionate yet wistful tone. Written in 1919, it is a work of farewell and a look back to a time long gone.

A new musical
It's hard to imagine the popular Volkstheater summer without a new summer musical. That's why the Volkstheater Rostock is also bringing a new hit musical to the stage of the former shipyard for summer 2025.
After the musical time travels to the disco era of the groovy seventies and the double look at the divided Berlin of the eighties, the early nineties follow with Go West. In the summer of 2025, the new musical will be heading towards the turn of the millennium with the hottest sounds. As always, the band will perform the biggest hits of the era live, guaranteeing summer entertainment and a great atmosphere.
