The 25th International Accordion Festival from February 24 to March 17, 2024 is the first accordion festival that will no longer take place under the directorship of Friedl Preisl on Vienna's many stages. This anniversary edition will also be under the new overall direction of Lisa Reimitz and Franziska Hatz for the first time.

The program of the 25th International Accordion Festival features an exciting mix of familiar and newly developed formats. Concert experiences with greats, insider tips, virtuosos, the tried and tested, surprises, the experimental; wild, quiet, loud, soft, gentle, powerful, international, national, local; in fantastic venues and with a lot of heart - for those connecting moments that only (live) music can create. Here are a few highlights from the 2024 program:

Tango 5
Miloš Todorovski - how often he has enriched the Accordion Festival over the past 25 years with his masterfully played, colourful and imaginative compositions, the organization of the annual concert for young musicians and numerous other projects!
So there is no question that this anniversary edition will be visually linked to his person and that the festival opening gala in the Ehrbar Saal will be performed by his ensemble "Tango 5".

Marko Hatlak Band
"How about an evening of high-quality, danceable pop-latino-funk-rock, virtuosically played and rhythmically pointed music; full of energy, playful and fresh; so that the audience feels entertained and inspired at the same time? You know... One of those legendary sit-down concerts where everyone ends up dancing standing up?"

A conversation about the organization of this Monday evening could have sounded something like this and was answered to the great (pre)delight of Marko Hatlak on accordion and his top-class band on drums, percussion, bass, keyboards and violin!

Domo Emigrantes
DOMO EMIGRANTES have been dedicated to the musical traditions of southern Italy and the Mediterranean region since 2009 and have performed in theaters, clubs and at festivals in Italy, but also in France, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Croatia, Spain, Turkey and the USA (Warner Bros Studios LA). With jazzy timbres and very individual arrangements, they create a rhythmically dense and captivating sound language. Violin, guitar and percussion are joined by instruments with which ears and hearts travel to distant regions: the Kurdish saz, ethnic flutes, fujara, bouzouki...

The emotional appeal of their music reaches and seduces a wide audience, whether world music enthusiasts or simply listeners who are in the mood for the south and the Mediterranean coasts - highly recommended on fresh Viennese March days to get in the mood for the approaching spring!

Caamano & Ameixeiras / MaxJoseph
Caamaño&Ameixeiras, a Galician duo linked to roots music and dance. Since its creation in 2018, this duo has undergone an intense development, both nationally and internationally. Starting from tradition, the duo manages to create its own unique language, with personal and lively compositions and arrangements that preserve the essence of popular music while incorporating contemporary resources and bringing emotion to the fore. The four young musicians of MAXJOSEPH have taken up the cause of realizing their very own idea of folk music. They combine elements of folk music with jazz harmonies, classical music with pulsating rhythms and the familiar with the unfamiliar. Traditions are softened to create new forms and unusual ideas. Progressive folk music is the symbiosis of this musical class and the unique sound of the instrumentation of tuba, guitar, violin and Styrian harmonica. A field of tension that never lets you stop listening!
