Directed by the renowned film and theater maker Mark Dornford-May, who was awarded the Golden Berlinale Bear in 2005 for his magnificent adaptation of Carmen, Tamino's adventurous journey is revealed here from a fascinating new perspective. Orchestrated for a musical ensemble with marimbas, drums and other traditional percussion and rhythm instruments, the original composition is performed in a virtuoso interpretation by outstanding vocal soloists and a brilliant choir. A wonderfully fresh take on Mozart's masterpiece, which speaks from the soul of this extraordinary production with plenty of wit, charm and the pulsating vitality of South Africa!
