Grigory Sokolov is one of those pianists who have become an integral part of the Pro Arte concert schedule. He regularly delights his audience with one of his ingeniously conceived solo recitals at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. With the stage lights dimmed, he always manages to cast a spell over his audience and amaze them with his unpretentious virtuosity. He always skilfully demonstrates his infallible feel for the delicate and quiet tones that he knows how to give space to in his programs. It is not so important which works are actually performed. Because - and this has also become a tradition - the program is just as uncertain at this stage as the number of encores you can look forward to.
