The exhibition comprises Cindy Sherman's most recent work and shows a series of strangely unreal portraits that illustrate the transformation of the self.

The concept of identity as a construct is a central theme that runs through Sherman's work. In this series of pictures, the artist gives even more expression to this idea by collaging photos of different parts of her face to create new images. The result is a series of completely asymmetrical and thus seemingly distorted portraits that depict entirely new characters that are brought to life in the course of the process.
"I'm disgusted by the way people make themselves beautiful"Sherman explained in an interview almost 40 years ago, "I find the other side far more fascinating." In many ways, this exhibition gets to the heart of this feeling. The deformed and sometimes disproportionate portraits on display here are from a series of twenty-six "drifting creatures", as the artist calls them, and represent Sherman's most grotesque work to date.
Cindy Sherman, born in New Jersey in 1954, lives and works in New York. She achieved international fame with her seseries Untitled Film Stills (1977-1980). In the decades that followed, she repeatedly explored themes such as representation and identity by transforming herself into a series of figures and photographing herself as such.
