Nevin Aladağ (lives and works in Berlin) is one of the most internationally renowned contemporary artists. Her installations, performances and video works have been shown at the Venice Biennale (in 2017) and documenta 14. Music and sound, dance, textiles and ornaments play a major role in her work.

With textile collages, sound sculptures, installations and videos, the INTERLOCKING exhibition draws connections between different patterns of artistic creation and their socio-cultural backgrounds. The creation of such connections is a main theme in Nevin Aladağ's extensive oeuvre.
The artist has created new works especially for the exhibition at the Max Ernst Museum, including works from the Color Floating series, in which she covers lamps with colored nylon stockings and thus playfully combines everyday materials in surprising new ways. In her new series Social Fabric, Floating Leaves, she weaves various textiles into a "utopian carpet" that makes the origin of the material from different cultures visually tangible.
The installation Carpet Ball Game invites visitors to literally play with the artworks themselves in an indoor basketball court.
