The unique Montafon theater hike "Grenzerfahrungen am Zauberberg" explores the cultural and historical connections around the historic mountain village of Gargellen.
On the guided hike around Gargellen, together with the "teatro caprile", you will explore the question of the cultural and historical points of reference for the development of how we perceive the mountains today at various locations between Austria and Switzerland.
At the foot of the 2770-metre-high Madrisa, teatro caprile invites you on an extraordinary journey through time. On a moderate circular route, visitors experience the cultural and historical links between the Maisäß landscape, tourism and mountain solitude. The production uses natural settings, lighting moods and minimalist means to bring the history of the mountains to life. A choir of "gelahrter Gembsen" accompanies the play with texts by Ernst Krenek that reflect life in the Alps.

The traditional Hotel Madrisa, once known as the "Austrian Davos", forms the historical backdrop. Guests such as Sigmund Freud, Arthur Schnitzler and Ernst Krenek stayed here and the production takes up their experiences.
After almost 100 fully booked performances and an impressive 10-year season, there will be a new Montafon theater tour entitled "Grenzerfahrungen am Zauberberg" from summer 2025. The Montafon will thus become a stage that shows how local stories reflect global developments.
Dates: July 18, 19 and 20, August 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31, 2025
