Absurd, more absurd, Candide - a witty and sparkling masterpiece with humorous texts by Loriot, read by Jan Josef Liefers.
Where is it, the "best of all possible worlds"? Candide, who grows up with the baron's children in tranquil Westphalia, is thrown out of the castle because of his love for Cunegonde. An adventurous journey begins for the naive young man, leading him around the globe from one absurd catastrophe to the next.
Based on Voltaire's satire "Candide ou l'optimisme", Leonard Bernstein creates a masterpiece of modern entertainment theater about the madness of this world. In a witty and lively mixture of opera, musical and revue, he not only parodies traditional dance forms such as the gavotte, mazurka, polka and waltz, but also sprinkles in the odd opera quote with a wink.
Another highlight of this concert version are the witty and witty interludes by Loriot, spoken by Jan Josef Liefers, known among other things as the opera-loving coroner in Tatort, who returns to his home town for this production. A wonderfully amusing and absurd evening, brilliantly orchestrated and full of humor and subtlety!
