Director Elisabeth Stöppler returns to Hanover and searches for Trionfo. Four last nights with music by George Frideric Handel and Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele, once again looking for moments of transition: between this world and the hereafter, anger and despair, consolation and love. In the space of the theater, shared by audience and performers for the duration of the performance, the great themes are carefully addressed - and transformed into questions. Because the mystery of life knows more questions than answers ...

Messa da Requiem is based on Giuseppe Verdi's powerful requiem mass, which the Italian composer wrote in the 1870s at the height of his career as an opera composer. It is characterized by a floating pensiveness: the choir's chants hang like wafts of mist over the orchestral sounds, four soloists raise their voices in lament and prayer. And again and again, the despair of the Last Judgement breaks through the calm like hammer blows. The scenic arrangement of the Requiem, conducted by James Hendry, expands the space of thought to the elusive edges of human existence: a place of remembrance, a celebration of life.
