Under the motto "In Rhythm", you can expect a varied, musically rhythmic, poetically moving and cleverly entertaining program at the Wetzlar Festival 2024.
The renowned Rilke Project will kick off the festival with its current program "das ist die Sehnsucht" (this is longing) with works by the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, featuring a top-class band, spoken and sung by Nina Hoger, Thomas Arnold, Dietmar Bär and others. For the first time at the Wetzlar Festival, we welcome the Ensemble Person with the production "Peer Gynt" based on the poems by Hendrik Ibsen, the Dresden Residence Orchestra with "Die Zauberflöte mal anderes", the Theater im Rathaus Essen with "Sterne, die vom Himmel fallen" and the Faustprojekt "Faust" Goethe's dream and reality. The Landestheater Detmold will be presenting its dance theater "Das kalte Herz" based on Wilhelm Hauff. Other guests include Michael Quast and the Fliegende Volksbühne Frankfurt with "Der Geizige", the Capital Dance Orchestra with "Berlin, Du coole Sau", Ulrich Tukur and the Rhythmus Boys with "Es leuchten die Sterne", Ilja Richter with his personal musical program 70 Jahre Ilja Richter - "Meine Lieblingslieder", the concert "One Night of ABBA" and The Cast, the rock stars of opera with "No Limits".
Other festival highlights include Cornelia Corba with "Alexandra", Carrington Brown with her "Best of" from 15 years, Melanie Haupt with a politically motivated song recital "Hauptsache Theater" and Theatersport Berlin with the popular "Wetzlar Show".
And our festival classics "Jazz meets Classic" and "Literature and Wine" will not be missing in 2024 either. The program is rounded off with political cabaret and comedy. We welcome Erwin Pelzig with "Der wunde Punkt", Frank Lüdecke with his new solo program, Frieda Braun with "Sprachlos", the women's duo JETZABA with "Die Waffeln der Frau", Ingmar Stadelmann with "Kommt ihr klar?", Anna Mateur & the Beuys with "Kaoshüter" and Heinz Grönig with "Fifty Shades of Heinz".
