The daughter of a rich merchant, Cinderella fights for her stepmother's approval, affection and love after her second marriage. But the stepmother and her daughters make Cinderella's life difficult in every conceivable way. Not only do they treat her like a servant and domestic worker, they also force Cinderella to sleep in the ashes next to the stove. But Cinderella's modesty and kind nature is eventually rewarded. Justice prevails and fortune turns on Cinderella's side. When her stepmother forbids her to go to the ball, her good friends come to her aid and allow her to attend the party anyway.
Cinderella seizes the opportunity and is rewarded; the prince dances with her almost exclusively for three nights and falls in love with the girl he does not yet know. Unfortunately, the spell only works until midnight, and Cinderella stubbornly hurries out of the castle just before twelve, as she had promised. On the last evening, however, she loses a shoe through a trick of the prince. With this shoe, the prince sets off across the country in search of his dream woman. Will he find her? Will Cinderella become a princess?
