Top-class classical music concerts in a dreamlike setting: Grafenegg, situated between Vienna and the Wachau, has developed into an internationally renowned festival location in just a few years and inspires people from all over the world every year with its unique atmosphere.

Don't build your happiness on the misfortune of others: this is the moral of Richard Strauss' monumental fairytale opera "Die Frau ohne Schatten", for which librettist Hugo von Hofmannsthal also drew inspiration from Mozart's "Magic Flute". Strauss' symphonic fantasy brings the opera's shimmering, colorful sounds into the concert hall as a drama without words. Johannes Brahms' heroic Third Symphony is also dramatic, culminating in a lyrical apotheosis. Fabien Gabel has also selected Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto K. 482 as the festive centerpiece of this stirring program; the award-winning German pianist Martin Helmchen plays the solo part.
