Bühnen Bern offers more than 30 premieres per season, including world premieres and Swiss premieres, as well as over 20 major concert events with the Bern Symphony Orchestra: a total of around 400 performances, concerts and special events are on the program.
The mayor panics for a moment: An auditor wants to audit the conduct of the office, incognito! Fortunately, they have connections. The visit was leaked in good time; enough time to cover up the most serious inconsistencies in all key areas. However, a stranger has been in town for two weeks, not paying the bills and behaving suspiciously. A clear case: it's the auditor! And so the stranger is courted, bribed and paid off until he leaves with full pockets and plenty of promises. The town breathes a sigh of relief - and sees the real auditor arrive as he waves goodbye to the fake one. Acting director Roger Vontobel brings Gogol's comedy about corruption and nepotism from 1836 to the Stadttheater with Bern's enthusiastic acting ensemble.
