Theater performances have been held in the arcaded courtyard of the Renaissance castle of Kobersdorf in central Burgenland since 1972. Professional acting, excellent visitor numbers and a reputation that extends far beyond the borders of the province have secured this stage an established position in the summer theater program. Since October 2003, Wolfgang Böck has been responsible for the artistic direction and can be seen on stage as an actor. In the summer of 2024, the Schloss-Spiele Kobersdorf will be luring audiences to Venice: "The Servant of Two Masters", a play by the writer and poet Peter Turrini (freely adapted from the famous comedy by Carlo Goldoni), is on the program.

On the last day of the carnival, a young war returnee slips into the costume of the joker Arlecchino. Hunger makes him take on any job. As the servant of two masters, he finds himself in all sorts of dilemmas because one of them is not allowed to know anything about the other. Both bosses are in the lagoon city incognito in order to settle unpaid bills. This is how Arlecchino, this shrewd character from the family of comedians, unexpectedly stumbles into the masked hustle and bustle of criminal machinations, strange love stories and complicated marriages.
Peter Turrini carefully rewrote Carlo Goldoni's famous play in 2007: funny and critical, spicy and poetic, raunchy and tender. In the process, the Austrian poet has helped the classic commedia characters around Arlecchino (Goldoni called him Truffaldino) to develop distinctive profiles and has taken aim at the pillars of society with great accuracy. Behind the mask of Pantalone, the corrupt transport entrepreneur Sansuga Sacchi comes to light: a showcase role for artistic director Wolfgang Böck! Director Beverly Blankenship will stage the sensual and morbid events surrounding the dark Venetian canals in an imaginative and entertaining way.
