Experience an unforgettable concert evening at the Semperoper Dresden when Tugan Sokhiev and Sol Gabetta bring masterpieces by Shostakovich and Bruckner to life.

WhenDmitri Shostakovich wrote his first cello concerto in 1959, it was written in collaboration with his close friend Mstislav Rostropovich. The legendary cellist memorized the concerto in just three days and then made some suggestions for improvement. "If I do it, you'll be the only one who can play it. But I write for everyone," said the composer, explaining his decision not to respond to the requests. Tugan Sokhiev, a conductor who is more than just a Shostakovich specialist, combined the work in concert with Bruckner's Seventh - the symphony that finally brought the composer his long-awaited breakthrough after its premiere under Arthur Nikisch.
