Director Joern Hinkel brings "Like in Heaven" to the stage. Great variety at the festival with "Dreigroschenoper", "A Chorus Line" and the comedy "Der Vorname" at Schloss Eichhof.

Music plays an important role in all of the plays in the coming season, "and in the most diverse ways," says Artistic Director Joern Hinkel about the festival season. The 73rd Bad Hersfeld Festival will open on Friday, June 21, 2024, with "The Threepenny Opera". Joern Hinkel comments: "With a shrill, seven-piece band, Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill turn the melodramatic, grand gesture of the opera into the grotesque and playful in their 'Threepenny Opera'. Their piece is full of musical allusions, sly, ambiguous and, for all its disillusionment, charming and snappy. It is pure pleasure to listen to the gangsters, policemen, whores and beggars warbling their songs about love's lust and suffering. A treat for all festival fans!"

After opening the 73rd Bad Hersfeld Festival with the "Threepenny Opera", director Joern Hinkel brings the touching play about a conductor and a choir to the stage of the Bad Hersfeld Stiftsruine with "Wie im Himmel". The musical "A Chorus Line" in a new version will delight the audience, as will the revival of "The Little Ghost" for all festival guests young and old. At Eichhof Castle, the audience can look forward to the comedy "The First Name".
Mayor Anke Hofmann is delighted with the new program: "After the Bad Hersfeld Festival was very well received by audiences and feature pages this year, Joern Hinkel and his ensemble will not let up in the 2024 season either: Art and entertainment at its best - shrill, thought-provoking, touching, fast-paced. There is literally "a lot of music in the 2024 season". I think it will be a festival season that we can really look forward to!"
