The Lentos Art Museum Linz is participating in the "Cultural Capital Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024" with a total of three exhibitions under the project title " Journey of Images " as part of the "Power and Tradition" program line.

The exhibition Journey of Images. Hitler's Cultural Policy, Art Trade, Deposits and Salvages during the Nazi Era in the Salzkammergut at Lentos in Linz is the flagship event of the Capital of Culture Salzkammergut 2024 in the Upper Austrian provincial capital Linz and invites all guests to visit Linz on their arrival or departure, or in between. In addition, Lentos, in cooperation with the Kammerhofmuseum in Bad Aussee, will present the exhibition Wolfgang Gurlitt. Kunsthändler und Profiteur in Bad Aussee and in the revitalized former Marktrichterhaus in Lauffen with the exhibition Das Leben der Dinge. geraubt - verschleppt - gerettet in the Salzkammergut.

The life and work of the art dealer Wolfgang Gurlitt (1888 - 1965), who lived in Bad Aussee from 1940 until his death in 1965 and later also in Munich, and the beginnings of the Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz are closely interwoven: With the Gurlitt collection formerly stored in Bad Aussee, the Linz museum manages a legacy that is as glamorous as it is problematic. The exhibition sheds light on the eventful life of the passionate collector and dazzling art dealer Wolfgang Gurlitt and his Jewish partner Lilly Christiansen Agoston (1894 - 1951), who were involved in the trade in confiscated art during the National Socialist era. the exhibition at the Kammerhofmuseum Bad Aussee is a cooperation with the Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz.
