The festival of music and art schools is a highlight in Brandenburg's cultural calendar and is coming to Ludwigsfelde this year. Over 2,000 young artists from Brandenburg's music and art schools will transform Ludwigsfelde's city center into a huge open-air stage.
From 25 to 27 July 2025, around 2,000 young musicians, dancers and actors from all over Brandenburg will present the festival of music and art schools - Sound City 2025. On seven open-air stages and throughout the city center, the actors will present programs from the world of classical music, jazz and pop, from the visual arts, dance and music theater and give a taste of the diverse, lively and challenging educational work at music and art schools.
Visitors can expect many specials such as art events, the Long Night of Choirs, a band competition and a light show with fireworks. The city is also celebrating its 60th anniversary with the festival and will be showing many highlights from the heart of the vibrant city society: an exhibition of historic vehicles from local automobile factories will be on display. The skate park invites you to a BMX stunt show with live music, and graffiti walls show a panorama of the city's history.
On two main stages, the top national ensembles will open the festival with big bands, vocals and symphonic sounds from classical music, film music and musicals. Further stages are set up in and around the Dichterviertel. Here, newcomer bands from Berlin and Brandenburg who have successfully qualified for the final of the "Jugend musiziert" competition can be seen.

The "Sound Truck" is making its debut at Sound City: the truck is a one-off from the IFA automobile factories and will be converted into a stage. The stage program is a melting pot of musical genres and diverse artistic genres: from hip-hop dance to singer/songwriter, from folk and world music to pop choir and wind orchestra, from big band jazz to symphony orchestra.
At Heinrich-Heine-Platz, the Kunstwiese invites visitors to enjoy art and hands-on activities. There will be a large children's program on the children's stage during the day, daycare centers and nurseries from Ludwigsfelde will participate and have their first live performance at the festival. With the special art project of the Gallery of Laundry Spaces, Ludwigsfelde residents are invited to experience art right on their doorstep and everyone can take part.
Brandenburg's music and art schools with a public educational mission are invited to register their groups, ensembles and bands for the festival. Registrations will be received until the end of March by the Brandenburg Association of Music and Art Schools, which is organizing the festival together with the town of Ludwigsfelde and the district of Teltow-Fläming.
Admission to all events is free.
