TOBS is a public and cultural meeting place and aims to connect people of different origins, languages - in Biel/Bienne and the region, taking bilingualism into account -, cultures and generations. TOBS places the direct experience in community at the center of its activities. In its small theaters and in the manageable concert hall, TOBS offers the shortest possible distance between stage and audience, between platform and listeners and allows a very special closeness to musicians, singers, actors and dancers.

Fabian based on the novel by Erich Kästner
Berlin in the 1920s: As the depressives and drunks stagger through the streets, the image of gender and family is also shaken, the global economic crisis is causing problems for everyone and war is looming menacingly on the horizon.
Jakob Fabian and his best friend Labude amuse themselves in the Cabaret of Anonymous, a dive where anyone and everyone is allowed to perform. Fabian tries to assert himself as a moralist, which is not easy for him amidst all the propaganda and polemics. When he meets Cornelia, at least his heart seems to be in a good place, but she dreams of a big film career.

Director Max Merker, together with theater musician Gilbert Handler, transforms the theater into a cabaret of the interwar period, which experiences a performance that resembles the present like a grotesquely distorted mirror image: In the face of propaganda and disinformation in the social media as well as the war in Europe, even today "Der Gang vor die Hunde", as Kästner calls the novel in the subtitle, takes its course.A co-production with the Vorarlberger Landestheater, Bregenz.
