For many, the Winterthur Music Festival is one of the most charming and popular music events in the canton of Zurich. First held in 1976, they are legendary today. For almost two weeks, local and international acts perform every evening on various stages on Steinberggasse, Kirchplatz and Viehmarkt - in the midst of historic old town buildings and free of charge for the public. Only on the last weekend are there three paid concert evenings.
12 days, 7 stages, 100 acts in the heart of Winterthur's old town - that's the Musikfestwochen. International newcomers, Swiss music, promotion of young talent, supporting program for young and old. Nine days of free program, culminating in three paid evenings. Both international and Swiss acts and, of course, the corresponding supporting program ensure a good atmosphere. This is unique in Switzerland. The festival is organized by a non-profit association with around 300 members. The festival is run by around 1000 volunteers every year.

The music festival weeks are so popular with music lovers because surprising newcomer bands can always be discovered here. In addition, the entire population of Winterthur seems to be involved in the festival in one way or another. There are also lovingly set up bars and food stalls.
