The melodies of Italian composer Gioachino Rossini have been resounding in the Enz Valley in the Black Forest for over 35 years. For ten days in July, opera lovers can immerse themselves in one of the most extraordinary opera festivals of international standing, be whisked away musically and experience top-class operas in an impressive setting.

The Rossini Festival will be ceremoniously opened on July 17, 2025 with the Petite messe solennelle on the treetop path. The following day, it's down to the Enz Valley: opera lovers can enjoy musical highlights with royal flair in a small circle in the magnificently restored Royal Kurtheater. La Cenerentola, L'inganno felice and Un avvertimento ai gelosi are performed in this gem - with only 200 seats and very close to the artists.

The free event on July 22 offers a special experience: during an evening walk on the Sommerberg, arias and canzonas can be heard on the suspension bridge - performed by the festival's scholarship holders. Highlight of the second festival weekend: Rossini's Otello in the rarely performed version for Rome 1820 with "lieto fine" is performed in concert. Francesco Meli and Diana Haller take on the leading roles, conducted by Antonino Fogliani, who travels directly from the Munich Opera Festival to Wildbad.

Music is everywhere - and those seeking relaxation like Rossini once did will find it in the stylish Palais Thermal: Moorish princely baths, an outdoor pool with panoramic views and the natural spa gardens invite you to linger. Visitors encounter the festival artists at every turn - in cafés, at rehearsals or in the midst of nature on the Sommerberg: be it hiking to the Wildsee moor, on the WILDLINE suspension bridge or the treetop path.

Why Rossini in Bad Wildbad?
In 1856, the great opera composer spent several weeks in the idyllic Black Forest, enjoying the healing springs and finding new creative energy. His "Sins of Old Age" was composed as early as 1857. Today, the Rossini Festival is appreciated worldwide for its bel canto rarities and outstanding vocal talents.
